How will communication work during the season?

a. Coaches and Waukee Lacrosse Board Members will communicate with teams and the entire Club utilizing the SportsEngine website/ app. We are currently just using an e-mail list as we have not officially set up the teams (rostered them) in SportsEngine.  If you know of someone who should be added to the current list, please get back to Mike Cooper for youth and Michelle Hilsabeck for High School and they will add them.

b. Also, the Waukee Lacrosse website will have some information as we get closer to the start of the season.

How can my son get the most out of his lacrosse experience?

a. Practice catching and throwing the ball.

b. Play wall ball for a few minutes every day if possible, even with a tennis ball, this will help improve their ability to catch and throw.

Yes, we will likely have a parent’s meeting the week of March 23rd for youth and February 20th for High School. Please keep an eye out for further communication.

When does the season usually run?

a. High School practice starts the first week of January with the first league game around the end of March. There is usually a KC Tourney in mid-March and the season is over the first part of May.

b. For youth, the season typically runs April through the end of May culminating in an end of season tournament at the Iowa Games in the first or second week of June.

When and where will games be played? (Youth)

a. We are in the process of scheduling games with the other Iowa teams. Our goal is to get games on Saturdays, but we must look at available field space and what works for our competitors.

b. The other teams we would play at would be Ames, Ankeny, West Des Moines, and Meskwaki.

How do I register my child and what are the associated costs?

a. Go to waukeelacrosse.com, scroll to the bottom of the page and click [Register] or click here to open the registration page in a new tab

b. Every player from age 8 through a Senior in High School must be a member of USLacrosse. The fee is $35 and there is a link within the Waukee registration process.

c. If you are a High School player, you must also be a member of NELAX (Nebraska Lacrosse Association). They are the governing body of Iowa lacrosse teams until there are enough teams to justify an ILAX (Iowa Lacrosse Association). There is also a link to the NELAX site within our registration page. Their fees are $110 for the season which covers Ref’s, tournament costs, trainers, concussion testing, etc.

d. Finally, all players must complete the Waukee Lacrosse registration. U10 level fees are $125, U12 and U14 level fees are $275 and the High School fees are $375. The club will provide a reversible Pinnie for the youth and a reversible Jersey for all High School players.
